Within a few days after my last blog, Ryan and I received our first letter from the Department of Children's Services! They sent us a nice little brochure and told us to except someone to get in touch with us within 10 business days about beginning the many, many steps it takes to adopt. Well, let me just say that 10 days have passed, and I've heard nothing yet. So, I can now begin to commiserate with everyone who has ever been through adoption about the waiting game... and I'm only a few weeks in!
So, for now, I've been praying my heart out for God to speed up the process (as if it really matters to God's plan what my timing is like) and I've been trying to keep myself occupied with reading books about adoption. I've been home for a week now out sick from work (my jaw joints have been chattering or locking all together off and on for a month now) and now we're preparing for fixing the problem. I was at the hospital again yesterday with a locked jaw... I just hope my health doesn't interfere at all with the adoption later on down the road.
So, for now, I wait.

Welcome!
Hello everyone!
As many of you may or may not know, Ryan and I have decided to change directions in our lives and begin to pursue adoption. After almost two years of desperately trying to get pregnant on our own, we both decided it was time to begin the adoption process.
So, here we are at the beginning! We have decided that we want to adopt out of foster care, so we called the telephone number on Georgia's Department of Family and Child Services website, received a nice little brochure in the mail, and a letter informing us that a case manager would be contacting us within 10 business days! We received the letter on Thursday, so hopefully we'll hear something this week about moving forward!
As of right now, we're in the initial excitement phase. The website says that foster care adoptions can happen between 6 months and a year, so by this time next year Ryan and I will be parents!
We'll keep everyone updated on the status.... please keep us in your prayers!
With lots of love,
